Be Gay, Make Website
Hello people who watch me be silly and sometimes thought provoking on the interwebs! So why on earth would I be making a non-social media website in 2025!? That’s a really fucking good question…
Basically, yesterday I made a really funny video. Like… so funny. Pretty much the funniest thing that anyone has every funnied… or at least it seemed that way while a lil high on mushrooms. I was so proud of it, I wanted to post it right away but I also knew I wans’t going to make a new one for the morning and my posts that go live in the morning on TikTok always get way more views than the ones I put up late at night.
So I set it to go off around the time I figured Ontario would wake up, because then I’d get to wake up to a bunch of views and comments, which would give me enough dopamine to get out of bed.
What I instead woke up to was an alert that I’d ‘violated the communit guidelines’ which… at first I thought it was going to be something silly about drug use or something. Which like it’s a cartoon character people joke about being high without anyone claiming they’re promoting drug use. But no I look at the alerta nd they claimed I was promoting sexual violence. Why? Near as I can tell, it’s because I had an eggplant emoji in. But also it could just be that some right wing troll made the complaint. Who knows, but it definitely started my morning off no bueno.
Beyond that Tiktok made pretty clear, that if they decided to pretend that I’d been a naughty chicken again they might just remove my account. And realistically I have backups of all the videos, but what I can’t backup is all the people who follow me on TikTok.
And realistically I realize that asking people to bookmark a website in 2025 is anathama. I’m sure half of you who have the best of intentions will just open the site in a tab and then never close it. (That’s not how to use a computer April! Close your fucking tabs!)
Beyond that, I saw Hassan Piker recently got banned from Twitch for either being too hot, or because he told the truth about a politician and then another Streamer who like… must be engaging because… that face… basically encouraged his fans to mass report Hassan. It doesn’t help that Bezos, owner of Twitch is in his overt mask off era.
Sooooo yeah. Website. Realistically, if I do ever get banned… which is definitely a some day certainty, I’ll probably lose 90% of my followers on any website I get banned on. But if people at least know where to find me. Because they… actually make a bookmark instead of just opening a tab and never closing it. Then maybe I can retain a fraction of the platform I’m building?
Oh also, the nice part is if I ever start working on a video script and it’s just not going to be able to be condensed into a video sized script, I can post it here.
I might also look into building a forum or something.
